This was a chapter on using transparency effects to achieve a variety of looks. The document consisted of multiple items on different levels. Several of the steps required the unlocking and viewing of the different layers. If the "eye" icon was showing, then all of the items in that layer were visible. Toggling off that icon removed them from the page preview and made it easier to manipulate just a few of the items at a time. Locking some of the layers eliminated further changes to those layers unless they were unlocked again by clicking on the "padlock" icon. The lesson called for a few steps that were eventually undone, but by clicking on the "preview" option, I was able to see what other effects were available.
Using the different percentages of transparency effects was easy and will be very useful in establishing Contrast among items. Drop shadow was also used in the word "bistro" to create a visual contrast in the title area. Images can take on new looks with simple changes to the transparency percentages. Repetition was shown via the repeated pattern of circles used in the design. Alignment really didn't come into play during this lesson. The Proximity element of design was demonstrated at the bottom of page where all of the locations were listed.
